GENEVA – The Geneva Women’s Club will celebrate its 80th year of philanthropy and friendship on Feb. 25, the club announced in a news release.
The celebration will start at the Geneva City Hall with Mayor Kevin Burns presenting a proclamation. A reception will follow at the Geneva History Museum.
Current members of the Geneva Women’s Club and past members are invited to attend and dress in cocktail attire from their favorite decade.
“It all started 80 years ago at a kitchen table with passionate women that wanted to help the community’” Ivette Bolender, club president stated in the release.
“We have had thousands of women through the years supporting and fundraising for local charities and awarded many thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school students,” Bolender stated in the release. “The Geneva Women’s Club is honored to be part of Geneva history.”
Geneva Women’s Club is a not-for-profit philanthropic women’s organization dedicated to improving the lives of women, children and families in the Fox Valley.
The club supports eight core charities including CASA, Fox Valley Hands of Hope, Lazarus House, Mutual Ground, TriCity Family Services, Living Well Cancer Resource Center, TriCity Health Partnership and Geneva District 304.
A rotational charity will also be chosen by the club this year based on nominations from the members, the release stated.
The club raises all funds from the Holiday Arts and Crafts Show on Nov. 8 and Bunco Night on April 22, the release stated.
